Ansel Adams

No discussion about nature photography can commence without mentioning Ansel Adams. Renowned for his exquisite black-and-white landscapes of the American West, Adams’ iconic photographs possess a timeless quality. His meticulous attention to detail, masterful composition, and unparalleled technical prowess elevated the medium of nature photography to new heights. Adams was also an environmentalist and used his photographs to advocate for the preservation of natural spaces, leaving an enduring legacy as both an artist and conservationist. One of the famous works of Ansel Adams on one of my favorites is The Tetons and The Snake River.

Frans Lanting

Frans Lanting’s photography explores the fascinating realms of wildlife and ecosystems, captivating viewers with his profound storytelling abilities. His dedication to capturing intimate moments in the lives of animals has led to numerous groundbreaking projects, such as his outstanding photo essay, “Life: A Journey Through Time.” Lanting’s images evoke a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world, showcasing the delicate balance between species and their habitats. It s hard to choose “the best” masterwork of Frans but the one I liked is the one from his Into Africa album.

Art has accumulated a number of remarkable images throughout his career and below is one of them.

Galen Rowell
